about the film
A shopping cart leaves his homeless owner in pursuit of love for another cart. Will he realize in time though that he's been tricked? The film is written, shot, edited, and directed by Peter Borrud, a junior at Biola University in La Mirada, CA. Peter first conjured up the idea of a film about a shopping cart when he saw a black-and-white photo of a shopping cart buried in the sand. "I started asking myself, how'd that shopping cart get there?" says Peter, "What's the story behind it? Did he have an owner? I then realized I saw myself as the shopping cart buried in the sand and from then I knew I had to make this film."
The story is simple, yet compelling. Peter's goal was to evoke as much emotion as possible out of a shopping cart through the use of montage, sound, and music. "Ultimately the film is about the object of our desires and how they can sometimes take ahold of us and separate us from what it is we truly love and hold dear."
Peter collaborated with Jason Becker, his producer, to shoot the film for under $500 in three days. The film won Best Picture, Best Drama, and Best Cinematography at the 2006 Biola Film Festival. It also won 2nd place in the Film2Music Film Festival, which will be screening at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival.
